Zoning Hearing Board

The Zoning Hearing Board is a five-member volunteer Board (plus one alternate member to serve in the absence of the 5th member) appointed by Municipal Council to serve five-year terms.  The purpose of the Bethel Park Zoning Hearing Board and its duties, which are illustrative and not exhaustive, include the following:

The Zoning Hearing Board shall be responsible for hearing appeals on rulings by the Zoning Officer.

The Zoning Hearing Board shall perform those duties prescribed by Act 247 of the State of Pennsylvania and the municipal codes, including the duties to:

The Zoning Hearing Board shall conduct hearings and render decisions on appeals from the Zoning Officer.

          Hear challenges to the validity of any ordinance or map.

Hear requests for variances and render decisions thereon, attaching such reasonable conditions and safeguards as it may deem necessary to implement the purposes of law, the Charter or ordinance.
