Bethel Park Police Law Enforcement Apprenticeship Program (L.E.A.P.)


The Law Enforcement Apprenticeship Program was modeled after the Citizen Police Academy program and is offered in a cooperative effort by the Police Department and the Bethel Park School District.  An extension of the Police Pals Program, the objective of the LEAP program is to provide information about the law enforcement profession for those students who may have an interest in pursuing law enforcement as a career at the federal, state, or local level.

L.E.A.P. is a ten-week program and is held during the school year on Wednesdays from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Bethel Park High School in Room 1100 of Building 1.  During the ten-week program participants will experience a vehicle ride-a-long, a facilities tour, firearms simulator as well as a trip to the Police Academy.  Some of the class presenters are from the FBI, U.S. Marshal's Office, Pennsylvania State Police, Allegheny County Probation, Allegheny County Police, and the Bethel Park Police Department. 

Who may participate?
Applicants must be:  A Bethel Park High School student.  (Preference will be given to Seniors and Juniors)


When is the program held?             
The program begins on Wednesday  January 18, 2012 (Applications accepted now through January 6, 2012)
