Building Inspector / Code Enforcement Officer

Municipality of Bethel Park is seeking to fill the position of Building Inspector / Code Enforcement Officer.  This position assists with the administration of commercial and residential building code enforcement activities under the State Wide Building Code (Uniform Construction Code), in addition to the code enforcement of municipal zoning and property maintenance ordinances.  Responsibilities include: plan review of construction documents, construction inspections, issuing permits, records maintenance, responding to public requests for service and addressing residents’ concerns, enforcing regulations with violation notices and prosecution methods, attending and coordinating Zoning Hearing Board meetings and Building and Fire Code appeals when necessary.  Must maintain knowledge of all current legislation, rules and regulations of the PA Uniform Construction Code.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for interacting with residents, contractors, architects, engineers and the general public.  Must hold and maintain the following UCC certifications:  (15) Building Inspector, (20) Mechanical Inspector, (22) Energy Inspector, (23) Accessibility Inspector/Plans Examiner, (24) Building Plans Examiner, (26) Mechanical Plans Examiner, (28) Energy Plans Examiner and (29) Building Code Official.   3-5 years of relevant experience and Engineering degree is preferred.  Salary range is $51,000 - $61,000.  Excellent benefit package is provided.  Municipality of Bethel Park is an EEOC employer.  Interested candidates should send resume with references and salary history to William J. Municipal Engineer

The Municipality of Bethel Park is seeking a Municipal Engineer.  Under the direction of the Director of Community Services, this position will assist the senior Municipal Engineer in managing all aspects of the Municipality’s Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Program, municipal road program, and capital improvement projects; and review of erosion and sedimentation control plans, land development and subdivision plans. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Filing NPDES reports/permit applications and preparing, executing plans for each; assisting with development of the design, analysis, specifications, cost estimates, tabulations of contract bids, and contract payments related to the storm sewer system, implementation of MS4 requirements, wastewater treatment conveyance, treatment, and collection system.  Thorough knowledge of principles/practices of civil engineering as applied to a storm water and sewer related field; ability to perform difficult engineering computations and to make comprehensive recommendations on engineering problems; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, contractors and the general public.

Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering is required, P.E. preferred, with a minimum of 4 years of engineering experience.  Residency is required within one year of employment.  Salary commensurate with experience/qualifications; generous benefit package is provided.  Interested candidates must submit a resume with professional references and salary history to William J. Engineer Technician

The Municipality of Bethel Park is seeking an Engineer Technician.  Under the direct supervision of the Municipal Engineer, the Engineering Technician performs technical work inspecting and monitoring sanitary sewer construction projects, reviewing sewer inspection video and logs, conducting engineering analyses, recommending sewer repairs and locations, and updates the Municipal GIS database.  Significant experience with GIS and GPS technology, excellent communication and project management skills.   Thorough knowledge and experience with construction and techniques of civil engineering

A minimum education equivalent to completion of two years of college in an engineering curriculum or related field, and a minimum of 5 years of experience conducting construction inspections.   Salary commensurate with experience/qualifications; generous benefit package is provided.  Interested candidates must submit a resume with professional references and salary history to William J.
